View all active and unactive ports in XP

I like to know how I can view all ports in a PC having OS "Windows Xp" and to
open and close any desired port.

If not possible in xp, any particular 3rd party application / tool.

In a command window, you may type: netstat -a

It will show all active ports. Implicitly, all inactive ports will not be
shown. Sysinternals (now owned by Microsoft) offers a free tool that will
allow you to view these ports live, and will allow you to close ports, too
(if memory serves).
