My Xp crashed about a month ago. I wasn't given the master disks when I bought this p.c.(the price you pay for being a novice!!!). I bought a new master c.d. I had to install a new modem, no driver for original. In device manger it shows a question mark at VIDEO CONTROLLER 1 AND 2 (VGA COMPATABLE). More drivers missing ?. I have a packard bell - I know, should have bought a Dell. Also although I have found a sound driver, but I can't get the modem on the desktop speakers.
Any Help please

First mistake is buying a system from a store - you should have built it
yourself.

Second, if you didn't get the master disks, whatever they are, when you
bought the system then from whom did you buy the new master c.d. and did you
verify if it was compatible with your existing system.

Third, all the hardware usually requires drivers so, as you indicated, many
drivers are missing. (Packard Bell went obsolete years ago - what did you
buy?) You will have to get drivers from the manufacturer's web site.

Hi,
Thank you Jerry, but as a novice, when you buy a p.c, you don't know these things. I have attempted to find the missing drivers on Packards web-site but all I see are hundreds of files and no way of knowing what to look for. I have E-mailed Packard but no response.
