Hello again,
You must have some audio card connections so that you can plug in audio sources
and listen to them via your computer. The shape and size of the plugs is
totally irrelevant, you simply buy the correct adapter plug. From the sound of
things all you need is an RCA to possibly a a standard "small" Stereo plug.
They are very cheap.
For the time being at least forget about the audio connections on your tuner
card.
With regards to your problem with S-Video....you can not plug it into an RF
(Coax) source you will have to use the tuner card as the source for Movie
Maker. Does that work well by the way??
In the bottom right hand side of your screen there will hopefully be a small
loud speaker Icon, Double click the Icon. Now click on Options, Properties and
then Recording. Whilst looking at that dialog box make sure that the LINE-IN
option has a check mark against it. This gives you the ability to edit the
LINE-IN properties. Then click OK to close the dialog.
You now have the dialog box displayed for RECORDING Properties. Now, The media
features of your basic XP computers are such that you can have only one
recording source.....you need to put a check mark in the LINE-IN box. From this
point any audio connected to the LIN-IN of your sound card can be recorded and
listened to. If the audio source was a microphone you would not want to hear it
out of the speakers because of the potential for feed back.....
This is only to demonstrate what you would do if recording using a microphone.
Click on Options again and select PLAYBACK, ensure that the microphone option
towards the bottom has a checkmark and then click OK. You will now be looking
at the Playback options. Somewhere to the right you will see the volume control
for the microphone and beneath it a check box called "Mute" Put a check mark in
that box. Now, when recording from a microphone there will be no
feedback...easy Eh...you certainly do not need to go elsewhere to get this very
basic advice eh???
So, back to Movie Maker....make sure the audio source is LINE-IN and have
another go at recording. Please Note, if you muted the LINE-IN option in the
Volume Control box, you will NOT hear any audio during the recording process.
Additional, You CAN have more than one option in the Volume Control "Playback"
window muted...but in the Recording window you can only have One Source...its a
bit like Highlander....There can be only one....just don't go threatening it
with a sword...the neighbors might get upset
Give it a try, get your self a converter plug (I bought a mono to stereo the
other day.....Pence that's all
Do let us know the outcome.
