Videos not publishing

I have the newest version of Windows Movie Maker. When i try to publish a
movie the program stops working. My Problem Reports and Solutions indicates
that the problem is caused by DivX and that a newer version of DivX is
available which may fix the problem. I have a brand new computer and as far
as i know i don't even have DivX, I've looked and can't find it. Other than
for Movie Maker, i have no need for DivX and would rather not clutter my
computer with a program i have no other need for. Does anyone have any
advice on this problem? It really pisses me off that I have a brand new
computer with Vista and Movie Maker doesn't even work. Help, anyone?

I have no idea what type of updates
your new computer may need but I
can tell you that just because a computer
is new is no guarantee that all the files
are the most current.

I guess you'll have to try using source
files that are in a different format.

This newsgroup is for Windows XP...
