Thanx, John for your reply. I'm up in years and like to simplify as much as
'possible.'
In that context (and BTW, Mozilla looks terrific.) Is it either desireable
or "necessary" to completely do away with I.E. 7? You know...being used to
something for a long time. Let me know and also if there would be any
conflicts having both. I'm trying to learn a little more as I go along and
'thought' it might be nice/valuable to be able to save some things on CD. I
guess you could say I would be safely archiving some things that I think
would be important. Again, if no major problems with 'replacing' I.E. 7, let
me know. You're a great person to have on a forum like this. I will D.L. as
soon as I post this. Don Hirth

No...you can use both FireFox and IE...even at the same time.

However...if you have reservations about installing new software...
you could try the following online downloader/converter:

When using the http://vixy.net/ site with YouTube...
the first step simply converts the video clip to
a different format...avi for example. Next...
you have to download the converted file to your
hard drive as follows:

After the file conversion is finished you will see
the following dialog on the screen:

Conversion Finished. Please download the following link:.
Download the converted video

You can right click "Download the converted video"
and choose... "Save Target As"...this will open the
"Save As" dialog that allows you to choose a save
location on your hard drive. Choose...Desktop...
and click the "Save" button.

After the file is downloaded you can go to your
desktop and move the file to any folder you
choose.

Note: I've noticed that sometimes the conversion
will fail...I think this is due to high traffic on the site...
the solution is to simply try again.

.John, again, thanks.
I'll stick with Firefox. One other question....I now have CD-RW discs. Will
they do
video or do I need another type? Also your rec. of 2 - 3 good brands.

You're welcome. Thanks for the update.

For info on CDs try the following links:

What's the best brand of media?
http://www.cdrfaq.org/faq07.html#S7-4-1

The following is just my opinion...

CD-RW disks are OK but personally I don't use
rewritable disks because they tend to be less
reliable than CD-Rs.
