I have just updated to the new Plus! Photo Story and really like the export
feature for VideoCD. How can I do the same with Movie Maker 2.0? It does not
seem like a huge leap of faith to see that if one product can support that
feature then the other should, too.

No, Movie Maker 2 doesn't support it. The newer version of Photo Story was
just recently released with this added feature.

But MM2 supports direct burning of a CD that has a HighMAT menu structure
and Photo Story doesn't. The quality of the movies on the CD from MM2 is far
superior - but the DVDs that play them are not out yet - not for a few more
months.

I burned two CDs with the new version of Photo Story and brought them to my
local Circuit City store. They didn't play at all on the first DVD player we
tried, and played fine on the second one. But the quality of playback....
well, a VCD is at the low end of the quality scale and it looked like it. It
has limited use. Unless you have a reason for a VCD, you would be better off
taking the movie from Photo Story and using other software to burn a SVCD or
DVD.

If you set the export setting to 1024x798 then you have a really good image.

Yes, those high quality pictures go onto the CD, but do they play as part of
the VCD?

As I understand the VCD spec, it doesn't go higher than 352x240.

The CD contains a mix of things - the project, the source files, the VCD,
etc. What I saw in the DVD player on the TV was just the VCD part.

If I'm missing something, I'd appreciate some pointers.

Yes, you are right, but for some reason it forced the video feed to be
clearer. I know what you mean about the jaggy picture (that is what I first
had) but when I ran it through at Higher Res it cleared things up.

Interesting! I guess it can only help to have higher quality source files,
even if the final resolution is fixed. Like looking at those great 800x600
images in a PhotoStory movie. You'd swear they were higher resolution.
