video wont play but audio does

I have recorded and it is a mpeg file. I downloaded TMPEGnc to change it but
when it was finished i went back into window movie maker and it still wont
show the video. I can watch the video in windows media player but i can in
the move maker. I download all the Codec's i caould and it still wont play.
Can some one please help me with this problem i am having. Thanks

Maybe the following info will be useful:

It may be because the DV codec in your
system has gone astray...

Okay an update on what i have done and what is happing. I have download a
converter and i converted the video to avi and window wont play it at all
now. I have also downloaded alot of codec's and it still wont work. if you
could help me i would really appricate it thanks.
