Hi,
I my boss is buying some expensive equipment for our
school so that we can convert VHS into digital video that
can be "streamed" to any computer in our network. I have
been surfing the net for two days trying to understand the
varias FORMATs, APPLICATIONS, and EQUIPMENT needed. I just
end up with more questions.
Do you know of any good web resources out there?
Thanks in advance--
Loren

Look at microsoft's own help guides- on Windows Media
Encoder 9.
I didn't learn all about video encoding in one day- but a
good program for editing is called Virtual Dub. Read any
tutorials you can in order to get things going... The main
thing is knowing when to sacrifice a little quality for
more space on your hard drive. Also, there are
compressions that can take 7 times longer to encode just
as clearly as another, just to save 5% disk space. Do some
quick 5 second video clips and judge for yourself what's
best!

Thanks, after I posted I did some further hunting and I
did find Microsoft's help databse, which is searchable. I
will try it
