Is there a virus out there that can wipe out the video drivers?
My brother has two computers that lost the monitor screen altogether a few
hours apart. They seem to boot fine (going by the sounds coming from the
speakers) but nothing on the screen, total black. If this IS a virus what
can I do about it without the screen I have no way to repair or run AVS.
TIA Chris

If, when you first power up the the machine, you do not see the normal
bios power up self test messages, it's likely a hardware issue since
the Windows drivers are not loaded yet. Hook up another Monitor to
test before assuming it's a virus. If you DO see the power up
messages, then the video disappears while loading Windows, you can
"guess" that it might be a configuration problem that can probably be
overcome by starting in safe mode and making corrections there (maybe
the refresh rate is set way too high for the monitor to function
properly).

If you connect a different monitor and still no power up self test,
I'd guess the video card. sorry. :-\
