video transitions

I am in the middle of a current slide show project and have added many vide&
transitions between photos...However, all of a sudden I am unable to drag &
drop the transitions. When doing so the transition box remains "empty" and
the transition does not drop into place. I am wondering if someone can tell
me what is happening or did I all of a sudden do something wrong. This is my
first attempt at creating a slide show cd to music.
thanks,

Maybe you are reaching the limits
of your system resources. Maybe
creating smaller projects would be
a solution.

i might have thought that too, but i have added pictures & transitions since
to the same project with no problem. There are only 3 pictures in the entire
storybook that will not allow me to drag & drop the transitions in front of.
Any other suggestions....what a shame since I have hours of work in this
project I hate to lose what I have already worked so hard at creating....what
a disappointment.

If only certain pictures are affected you may
have an issue with incompatibile files.
Converting the files in question to .bmp may
be worth a try.

You are using still shots....correct?

What format are they in? .jpg, .gif,
..png, .tif, ???

Using digital image editing software
open one of the problem photos from
the original folder and save it in the
..bmp format.

If you do not have image editing software...
try the freeware IrfanView.

Irfanview
http://www.software.com/irfanview
(get the plug-ins too)
http://www.software.com/irfanview-plugin

After installing IrfanView...drag/drop
the offending photo file on the IrfanView
executable...(desktop shortcut)

When the file opens in IrfanView...go to...

File / Save As...

Choose a save location...

Enter a File Name...

Choose...'BMP - Windows Bitmap'...

Click...Save...

Now...import the .bmp version of the
photo into Movie Maker and use it to
replace the problem photo.

If this does not help...I suspect a
lack of system resources may be
the problem.

Easy to check...the format is after the dot...
summertime.jpg is a .jpg file
wintertime.png is a .png file
get the idea?

It's not clear what steps you used...did
you actually go to the folder the original
files are saved in?

Did you open the offending photo in an
image editor and go to...File / Save As /
..bmp?

Once the file is resaved in the.bmp format
you will have to reimport it into Movie Maker
and replace the problem pic with the .bmp
version.

well, I was able to find that all of the photos I am using are .jpg
files....so that was easy. However, I don't really understand how to convert
those to be .bmap files???

I posted instructions on converting the
files in a previous message to you...if
that is not adequate I'm sorry...it's the
best I can do. And it may not solve the
issue anyway.

Here's a copy of my previous reply:
