Hi guys
Is it possible to plug a video player or camera into the PC and transfer the
content?
If so what software would I need.

Thanks

You need some sort of hardware first. I use "Zoltrix TV Genie" Its a TV
tuner card. Costs about $70.00 canadian. Then you plug in the video out to
the tuner card, the audio out to the sound card.

Then you can use any of the excellent freeware AVI Capture proggies to
capture and convert it to .avi, .mpeg, .divx, or what you want. You can
then use Virtual Dub and TGMpeg to convert to SVCD format and burn to
cds which will play on many DVD players.

Check doom9.org for more detailed info.

Hi Egwig,
It is possible. You'll need hardware. To capture analog images to
the computer the video is digitized and then stored as a file. Digital
cameras use IEEE digital input or USB to send their already digitized
signal to the computer. If you want to plug your VCR into your
computer with a stereo jack or SVHS you'll have to have a video
capture card. Do you have hardware?

On Google search for 'analog video capture'
http://www.google.com

On Ebay search for 'video capture'

hope it helps

Certainly, using a video capture card.

The software that comes with the card.

On 04 Sep 2003 I could have sworn I heard Egwig sing a little song and
the words went something like this:

Going from a VCR to the computer which file format would give the best
quality ? Does anyone have a freeware recommendation for this type of
situation please ?

Regards, John.

The software that comes with the card.

....although VirtualDub tends to be better than the software that comes
with the card
