Hi,

I created my first movie project using MM2 and saved it
to my computer. The video was captured from a Sony Mivi
DV camcorder.

When I play the saved version through Windows Media
Player the video appears a little slower (moves frame by
frame slowly). Is there a way to normalize this??

I am planning to copy this to CD and I want to ensure
that the quality is fine when viewed on TV.

I read in an article that the bit-rate needs to be high
to get a high quality video. I am not sure how to enhance
the bit rate at this time.

Any thoughts would be helpful in how to solve the video
issue?

Thanks
Mani

Hi there,

What method of transfer are you using...USB or Firewire I ask because I
have a very vague recollection of someone else saying that there was an
issue with your camera type. If it is USB then there will always be
problems. USB is just not fast enough.

With respects to the "bit rate", when capturing from a camera there is
nothing you can do, except for making sure you use the fastest transfer
mode possible for your camera. If you have a firewire connection then you
can capture at speeds (I believe) of up to 8Mb/s which is your basic DVD
bit rate. Some cameras will of course go much higher than this...if you
possessed one I guess there would be little chance of seeing you in this
newsgroup :)

So, things to find out....

1) What connection(s) to the computer do you have?

2) Do you know what frame rate you are actually getting? Take note that the
Movie Maker environment does not show you every frame, even though it will
create a file with every frame. (You only see 15fps in NTSC and 12.5fps in
PAL, and no, I have no idea why they did that. My other software shows every
single frame, if you want it too)

3) If you have a firewire connection and you are still getting a poor frame
rate then we need to dig deeper.

4) If you own a really expensive camera, I will swap it for my cheap one so
long as you pay the transport costs:)
