Video resolution low?

Folks, can someone please help me figure out why my xp-pro video resolution is always low when I restart or turn my system on? My video settings always stayed put up until I recently installed Adobe Acrobat standard version 6. I wouldn't think this program would have anything to do with effecting my video resolution but the problem occured after the install.

After my system turns on, the resolution is always low and at 60hz, I then go in and reset it and its fine until I turn off and turn on later from a restart or from a complete shut down and even after unplugging and then restarting. Any thoughts on why this is and how to fix it? I'm using an ATI gigabyte 9200 card if that has any clues? It's not a serious problem but it is quite annoying to reset the video everytime. Also, updated Norton antivirus and xp patches are employed.

Thanks for any advice in advance!

Hello,

Have you tried to re-install the latest driver for your graphic card?

Yes, I have the latest driver from ATI. Also, from your question, it did make me think to try and remove the driver and re-install. However, tried and didn't help? This video resolution resetting is quite annoying!

Just recently my system (athalon 2100, XP) has slowed down, and I found
that Control.exe was taking most of the cycles, not system idle. If I
kill control.exe, I get my performance back. I didn't start contro.exe,
and I am not sure what does. Any idea what is starting it, and why it
doesn't stop itself when it is done?
