I want to purchase a projector that can be used for ppt presentations by
inexperienced operators. We are a non-profit group that gives presentations
- mostly at libraries. We would prefer to have a unit that does not require
a connection to a PC. Are there units that can present PPT using data from a
flash drive?
Any recommendations?

I don't think you will find any projector that will run native PowerPoint
slide shows as a show but there are many models from many manufacturers
(Epson has a few) that will show slide shows of still images. You could
prepare the slide show on a desktop (or laptop) and save the presentation as
projector compatible image files onto a USB stick and then plug that into
the projector to present the images.

The reason that native PPT presentations won't run is that it takes a lot of
processing power and program that that the projector itself doesn't contain
to show the PPT slides. It does have enough power to show still images
however from the USB stick.

Another option might be to convert the PPT to a DVD/video and just take a
small portable DVD player to hook to the projector.

Granted not the same as running the PPT, but you could still retain some
animation and effect, instead of just still images.

Steve - Thanks for your speedy and concise reply -
I am sure that you are correct.
