I think all of the following problems are related, and possibly caused by
uninstalling unwanted applications.

In WMM, when I attempt to import an audio file (.wma, .mpg, .mp2, .mp3)
using:
Movie Tasks -> Import audio or music -> <filename> -> Import
I get message:
<filename> could not be imported. Class not registered.
Q: What do I have to do to register the class?

In Sonic MyDVD Plus, when I attempt to import a movie clip (e.g a .mpg file
generated by Hauppauge WinTV) using:
Video -> Create Project -> DVD -> Add Files -> <filename> -> Open
I get message:
The software that's used to decode the media is not available on this
system. Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with
may help to correct the problem. -47001
Q: What are the correct decoders?
Q: How are the correct decoders installed?

In WinTV (Nova-T-USB2, digital terrestrial), when a radio station is
selected, the jpg file DVB_Radio.jpg (has Hauppauge logo) should normally be
displayed in the TV
frame, but now a black frame is displayed, and if another application (e.g.
Windows Explorer) is made current such that its window overlays the WinTV
frame, that part of the window which overlays the TV frame is "captured" by
WinTV (i.e. it is no longer black).
Also, the message:
<time> - DShow ERROR VideoRenderer::ResizeVideo -- The operation cannot
be performed because the pins are not connected
is written repeatedly to the WinTV log file c:\MyVideos\HCWlog.txt

Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong, and how it may be
corrected?

Hauppage products have serious problems including:

- Very high CPU usage (80-95%) meaning you can't really do other work
whilst watching
- Very low quality software
- 30 second delays between pressing Pause and the recording starting
- Unreliable recordings
- Support either never answer or answer with cut and paste response
that means nothing

Do not buy Hauppage products
