Video pauses during playback

When playing back captured video from my camcorder, about every 3 seconds or
so the video freezes for a split second. The sound is fine. Creating a WMV
produces the same pause. Very annoying.

Sony Handycam DCR-HC36
Windows Media Player 2.1
Windows XP Media Edition
Big machine, lots of memory

Any ideas are very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Just wondering if you downloaded
from the camcorder via your IEEE
1394 (FireWire/i.LINK) connection?

How would using FireWire help? (I don't know anything about FireWire).

The capture works fine on a friend's computer using USB. My computer
has a faster process or and more memory so I would think it would
have zero problems.

Before going to the trouble and expense of purchasing a FireWire
cable and port, are there any other things that may cause it to
freeze?

Thanks!

Maybe it's not your answer...all I know is that
FireWire is for transferring video. And I've
seen messages from other posters who
solved their issues by changing to FireWire.

When you discover the solution please let
us know what it was.
