video in powerpoint slideshow

Hi,
we have a strange phenomenon here.
I have a newly installed PC with Windows XP and Office/Powerpoint 2003.
I have old Powerpoint slideshows from Powerpoint 2002(XP) which was on
a Windows 2000 computer.
The videos do not play using the old files in Powerpoint 2003: the
first frame is fine, when starting the video, only a black box appears.
However if I use the same video file and reinsert it into Powerpoint
they play fine.
I have checked the MCI settings and the avi extension is mapped to
MPEGFile, also mplay32 plays the files fine. I have read that some of
the MCI/MediaPlayer trouble was fixed in 2003 but I do not remember
exactly what was going on between versions.
Anyone got an idea/comments?
Regards,
~jm
