Video in Power Point

I added a video to my PP presentation, by going to >Insert >Movies and Sounds >Movies from File and then I selected *yes* to have it auto start as the slide is advanced to it. Trouble is ... when I write the presentation and movie to a CD and play it from my laptop, upon opening I get a popup window that says at the top MPE 616 and the message is: CreateMPEG32 Task-CMD is not successful!
I click the window and another popsup and then another ... and then the presentation begins to play like normal ... when I get to the slide with the movie the window popsup again (only once this time) and I click it and then the movie plays. How can I get rid of the popups?
Thanks!

This is a fairly common problem (I believe it is more Windows ME and 2000
prone). Here is the solution:

a.. Open your Window's SYSTEM.INI file with a text editor like notepad (not
wordpad or word) Note: The simplest way to do this is to click Start, Run,
then type SYSEDIT in the text box, then click OK.
a.. Find the line "MPEGVideo=mpeg16.dll" (probably under the header "mci")
and change it to "MPEGVideo=mciqtz.drv"
a.. After making the change, save the file, but make sure you don't
accidentally save it as a *.txt file. It should still have the original
System.INI name

Thanks so much Troy ... I followed your instructions and this is what I see (no MPEGVideo-mpeg16.dll) I am running Win98 ... however, I saved my PP Presentation and the video on a PC with XP and I get the same error. Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.

[mci]
cdaudio=mcicda.drv
sequencer=mciseq.drv
waveaudio=mciwave.drv
avivideo=mciavi.drv
videodisc=mcipionr.drv
vcr=mcivisca.drv
MPEGVideo=mciqtz.drv
WinDVD=ivimci.drv
MPEGVideo2=mciqtz.drv

How was the MPEG created? For the most universal use it should be an MPEG
level 1. I am not sure (a bit out of my expertise) what "mpeg16.dll" is.

Yes it can be converted using a video editing program. I use MediaCleaner
Pro, but an not sure if there are any freeware/shareware downloadable apps.
Before going to this effort eliminate PPT as the problem. Can you insert a
different MPEG and have it playback? (if yes, then it is something with the
trilogy.mpg file. If no, then it is something with PPT and your video codecs
or a registry problem or ...?).

Check here for a great overview of how PPT and multimedia files interact:

mpeg level 1 ?
