video freezes but sound continues as it should

I have a video that will not play correctly after being loaded into a PPT
slide. the presentation works fine on my PC that has PPT 2003 but the same
vidoes freeze when I use my laptop that has XP and office 2007. The vidoe
files and the PPT presentation are saved in the same folder and the vides
play fine outside the PPt presentation when played with windows media player
or Real.
I have done all updates to windows and office as well.

these updates failed to install, I don't know if they are
criticaHigh-priority updates
