I created movie consisting of slides and music. Movie is
35 minutes long, plays fine in movie maker. On playback in
media player and in recordings, video freezes around the
30 minute mark. Saved, replayed and recorded multiple
times and it always stops, however it stops on different
clips and not always the exact same time in the
timeline. Please help! I have looked everywhere for
resolution.

Hi there,

fyi: Doing the following got rid of all freeze-ups that I
was having:

(1) Right-click on the desktop
(2) Select Properties
(3) Click Settings
(4) Click Advanced
(5) Click Troubleshooting

Now, slide the marker to the third index position
(normally it's on the sixth index position), and work
your way back to the desktop (i.e., don't cancel your
change), then try your playback again, if it's "healed"
of the problem just leave it at that setting, assuming no
other video issues arise.

Good luck.

I am having the same problem. Please let me know when you get a resolution

I have seen other reports of this behaviour. In my experience typically it
happens on faster machines that have two processors or maybe have
hyperthreading enabled and also when there are a bunch of transitions on he
timeline. Does this apply in your case?

Sometimes just trying to save your movie again will work, as it doesn't
always repro 100% of the time. If in your case it is consistenly failing
then the other suggestion I have is to save your movie as a DV-AVI file
first. To do this, when you're on the Movie Settings page choose "Other
Settings" and select DV-AVI from the list (if Other Settings isn't visible
then click "Show more choices...").

Play back the resultant DV-AVI file to make sure that it's OK. If so, then
just import that file into MovieMaker, drag it down to the timeline then
publish it again as a WMV file with your choice of profile. Once you're
finished rememember to delete the DV-AVI file created in the first step if
you want to reclaim the disk space back as DV-AVI files can be quite large.

Hope this helps

Tammy did you get a resolution to the video freezing and
the sound keeps going? Having the same issue and looking
for a quick resolution to a aniversary movie due this
weekend.

Thanks
Chuck
