While recording , the preview window shows the video fluttering and you can see in the back ground a double exposer of a previous recording but in a still shot. Sometimes the preview window will only be blackend out till the video is finish

Are you capturing using firewire?

And if so, is this with a brand new MiniDV tape or are you overwriting a
previously recorded tape?
