Hi,

I have been sent some video files which are "windows
media audio/video playlist". What are they and can I
convert them to say mpeg.

Thanks for looking.

I don't understand the what are they part of the question. You could convert
them to mpeg if you wish, use a dvd authoring app, some like sonic will let
you import a wmv file. Why do you want to convert it to mpeg?

I'm having the same problem, my Windows Media Audio/Video (wvx extension)
files will not import into Windows movie maker. I tried going through Sonic
and it will not save the movie file with that extension. Any suggestions?

WVX files are not video files so of course they won't import into WMM.
Find the video that the WVX file points to by opening it in notepad (WVX is
only a file redirector that points to a WMV file)
and import THAT file into Movie Maker.
