when selecting a video effect why does windows movie maker close?

Hi There,
This may be a codec issue. You can download a program written by me that
will allow you to temporarily rename suspect codecs (Its called Rename
Codecs), so that if it is one of them causing you a problem you will be
able to use moviemaker trouble free.
Afterwards you can again use my program to rename these codecs back to their
original names...you do not need to know anything about renaming files to
use this program...it does it all for you.
