I know exactly what you mean. My solution to this problem .... was easy
to fix, but also very inconvenient.
I am running windows XP, and when MM2 crashed, XP would give me the
option of sending the error report to Microsoft. Many times I cancelled that
operation, but eventually I allowed the report to be sent and at the end of
that, I got a report on what the problem was. In my case it was a DLL called
ivi???.ax can not remember the name now. But, it was part of what I thought
was an unrelated program (InterVideo DVD)....I uninstalled the program and
since then MM2 has never crashed...and works faster than it used to.
However, it also meant that I no longer had a DVD player. So I ended up
getting the latest version of InterVideo DVD (Version 5) Both programs work
perfectly. So, clearly the offending file has been improved on in the latest
version of the DVD player.
Providing you have the ability to replace your DVD Player software (You
have the original disk or whatever) try uninstalling the DVD software,
reboot the machine, and see what happens.
All the best.....
