Here's my problem.

I have a Hauppage WinTV-Go PCI capture card, and Windows
Movie Maker 2 works fine to capture at 320x240
resolution. When I wanted to change resolution, the
problems started.

I went into the Video Capture Wizard, clicked
the "Configure" button, clicked "Video Settings", set
output size from 320x240 to 640x480. I clicked "OK",
closed the Configure dialog, and proceeded as before.
This time, after selecting my video capture quality, I
clicked "Next>" - to get to the final capture screen -
and got hit with the dialog:

"The video device is currently in use. Close any other
application that is using the device and try again."

Now, I KNOW that I didn't have any other applications
using the capture device - I'd started off from a clean
boot of Windows.

I'm using XP Home Edition, Service Pack 1.

Any suggestions? Would love to hear. Email is probably
best: bknight 255 at hotmail dot com.

Thanks!

It could just be that the device in your system isn't capable of higher
capture resolution..... but the error message doesn't tell you.

I can capture at 640x480 with a Dazzle 80 on one computer but only at
320x240 on another.... same device and camcorder.

..... and there's some notes from prior posts on the Analog Video Capture >
Hauppauge page of my site.

Hello there,

The mesage you receive is because the program could not take control of
the device. The device is not necessarily in use by anything else. Its just
MM way of saying a failure occured.

The exact reason for the failure can be many and quite varied. An
unlikly one is that the card does not support the format requested.

I would think that if you remove the device in the device manager, then
physically remove the card and re-boot a couple of times so that the system
settles down and then re-install the card making sure that you also have the
very latest drivers you will find things have improved.

I am also having the same problem, If I adjust the output size to something
half decent then it says the devise is in use. I deleted the capture card
(ATI TV Wonder pro) and then reinstalled the drivers but didn't help. My
other software just crashes
(NEO DVD & Studio 8) All seemed to happen after installing SP2
anybody have any thoughts let me know
