Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

I recently reformatted my computer and everything went
okay, but when i booted the computer up, i could only see
16 colors and 800 x 600 resolution when my monitor is
capable of much more.

I believe it is the video card driver. I need to know
where i can download the driver for "Video Controller (VGA
Compatible) is what is says in device manager. Ive put
the windows 2000 pro cd in and had it search for suitable
drivers there, but to no prevail, it did not find anything.

I have been trying to get this problem fixed for a few
days now, and would like to get this cleared up as soon as
possible. Thanks for any help or suggestions you guys may
have.

"VGA Compatible" is a stand-in driver, and not the proper
driver for whichever video controller you actually have in
your computer.

Find out which controller you have and download/install a
proper driver for it.
