video connections

I have a Sony High 8 Analog video camera, when I try to capture video from it I get a message that my video device was not detected. I have it connected with an s-cord . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You have to "capture" to an appropriate analog to digital converter such as
a digital camcorder which has that capability or to a computer that has that
capability. You didn't really say what equipment you were using.
