Hi I recently swapped out my old processor and mobo with an EPOX an
an AMD 64 3500+ Venice Core. The system was working fine but when
was installing some of the drivers for the motherboard, the whol
screen basically when nuts and I have blocks of all sorts of colors.
Now even when I reboot the computer and the system does the initia
setup, the same thing happens (before windows boots).

Steps I have taken so far
Taken everything and put back togethe
Cleared the CMO
Removed and Reinstalled the MOBO Batter

Does this sound like a video board problem or a mobo problem and wha
should I do to fix it

System Specs
AMD 64 3500+ Venice Cor
Epox Mobo (i'll get back with the model number if it's important
1 GB Corsair PC3200
ATI 9800 AIW Pr
2 160GB SATA in RAID

I know this may sound elementary, but did you reinstall your video card
drivers?

Sounds like a software problem.Re-install all drivers. And DirectX.

I hope you didn't follow the goons who think they can "update" an
OS. If you had an OS on one of those drives, from the previous
install, and you just tried to reinstall the drivers for the new
system,
You have a corrupt install. That MS updater never works. I've
had some success setting the BIOS to "defaults" which in some
cases will cause the OS to "update" all the system and hardware
drivers, but that is a kludge. It worked for me after about 10
reboots, and running a bunch of programs, to force XP to sort
things out. It would have been quicker to slave the old drive to
a new install, and simply copy over email, docs, etc to a fresh
install with new drivers.

No it was a clean install of XP. Additionally, I can't really install
anything because I can't see anything.. even in the boot up sequence
the display is all messed up.

so reseating didn't work?

you might have a bad 9800 aiw pro, this happened to me on occasion. try
reseating the heatsink on the video card only if you can send back your
card for a new one.sosme of the Aiw 9800 pro cars are buggy i noticed.
