I was trying to watch a sample of a "photo Story" and received this error
message. "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the required
video codec is not installed on your computer." Can anyone help with this?

Couple things you can try.

Make sure the download codecs automatically box is checked in windows media
player in player options. If it was photostory 3 content I believe you may
need Media player version 10 so make sure you have that version installed.

You can also download and install photostory 3 for free from microsoft which
should give you the requied codec.
