Video Clip Sound Trouble

When I import a video clip containing sound to collections I can preview the clip and everything is perfect (sound included). The problem is that when I add the clip to the storyboard the only sound I get is this annoying screeching/crackling. I don't know what is the problem. when I click on properties for the clip that I have placed in the storyboard it shows that it includes both video and audio (88kbs). Can you help me?

I should also add that I captured these videos with my Canon S230 digital camera (maybe that helps).

Hi Jay, MovieMaker interactions with older WinDVD components *might* have
caused this problem.
To check, search for the file "iviaudio.ax" on your machine and rename it to
iviaudio.ax_
this may fix the problem. Remember to rename back (or get a later WinDVD, if
this is the problem)

I had exactly the same problem and the remedy you gave fixed it fine. the file path to get to the file in question is : "program Files", "Intervideo","common" "bin"

I also had this problem. Your fix worked for me as well.
