Projecting an mpeg in PowerPoint XP I am having trouble showing it anything
but full screen. Is it possible to change settings so that it is confined
within a certain space in the powerpoint slide - alongside text and other
imagery?

hi duncan,

when you insert the video file into powerpoint right click
the image and select format picture, if you select size
there you can scale your media file to whatever % you wish
to play the file at.

i hope this was of some help to you.

I've had this happen when projecting, too, Duncan.

One thing that's fixed it for me is to toggle the laptop/projector display so that the PPT file shows only on the LCD. Your laptop screen will be blank, but the video and slides should look fine on the projected version, then.

I've had this on a laptop, it had an nVidia graphics card. Just go to
the control panel for the card and disable the desktop manager.

For some reason it likes to show the video full screen on the secondary
screen.
