You need to have your old video card installed and roll back
the driver to the basic VGA (which will drive all cards and
not conflict with the upgrade). Then shutdown, install the
new card and reboot. The correct driver should install (the
instructions might require that you install the drivers
first, follow the instructions).

Thanks, Jim, for your help. I am having trouble with finding a way to roll back the driver in fact I'm not where the driver I have is coming from , maybe the BIOS. This started before I tried to put in the new card.

If you remove any video card that shows in the device
manager and reboot with a card in the AGP or PCI slot, plug
and play should re-install it with a functional driver.

You should be able to find the latest driver from the web.

Hi Jim Thats what I thought also but my computer doesn't recognize any switching of video cards. could it be a BIOS problem. Thanks again for taking the time to reply

The BIOS should be set to enable auto-detect and plug and
play.
