Video Card

If someone could help me I would appreciate it. I am on RC1 running a
Diamond Stealth G60 (32MB) and cannot do any video playback as I get a
system lockup. This is not surprising as it is not to Vista spec. I want
to upgrade and saw I could get a Diamond Stealth S120 ATi's Radeon 9550
128MB DDR AGP Video Card to replace my current one. Does anyone know if
this will work with Vista RC1 and let me use all the video features therein
? I want to be able to burn DVD's (data and video) and have video playback
as well.

Thank you in advance,

Chris

The Radeon 9550 will do the job when Vista goes final, and doing a quick
search I couldn't find anyone reporting any major issues with the 9550 and
the present builds.

I'm using a Radeon 9550 and it works perfectly. Not into heavy gaming
though, so not sure of its performance there. Aero/Flip3D work fine.

Thanks Peter. I don't do any gaming except for RealFlight R/C Sim. I tried
bring RF up and it works. The controller for RF running through USB does
not work properly but that is another issue. I also need to trouble-shoot
the CD drive not working (it dies) and that is about the extent of my woes
in Vista. I appreciate the feedback on your 9550 : )

Just to let the persons that have replied know, I am an IT guy and do
business activities mostly on my computer. I am running a self-built :

MSI Intel based 3.2ghz Northwood/Prescott CPU (no overclock, it wont stand
it)
512MB of RAM (Kingston) - yep, I need more !
2 80GB HD's
External Sony DVD Burner/Combo
Internal Sony CD/ROM
SB Live!

I was on XP Pro for years and am happy with Vista so far. Thanks to all
that replied !

Good luck with your other problems...I'm no expert on those.

No worries Peter. I know there is a fix for my CD/ROM by amending the
registry so I got that one covered. As far as the controller for
RealFlight, since its just a sim (read: game...kinda) I have not worried
with that too much and will address it later. Besides, I am still pondering
if I should not just go back to XP Pro and wait to upgrade at a later time
when the hardware manufacturers have enough time to put out new drivers for
all the peripherals. As long as I can perform my job (IT guy) I am happy
and XP Pro has done that for me for years. I also lost use of Nero and that
isn't good so XP will fix that too. Decisions...decisions...lol

Vista is nice but I have not seen anything that XP Pro will not cover. It
seems to me it is mostly "look and feel" at this point and while its nice, I
cannot see anything that just makes me have to have it. Course, maybe I am
missing the boat somewhere but time will tell on that.

Thanks again.
