I know the GeForce FX 5200 is compatible wiht Aero, but is it the same for FX
5200plus? Does the "plus" have something to do with it?

The card should be compatible provided Vista likes your RAM, processor speed
and your main board loads ok. The 5200 doesn't score very high in
Performance ratings and is becoming old technology. Some incompatible
multimedia programs, one being winamp, tends to knock Aero out on this
system with 256MB FX 5200.

Winamp works okay on my computer with an AMD Sempron 64 2800+ @ 1.6GHz,
1.5GB of RAM, and an Ati Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB GDDR2 AGP 8x. Winamp on
occasion crashes. Do you have this problem as well?

Best I can say is Nvidia drivers are *fragile* with this card. I had
the AGP version and had multiple BSOD when trying to run the
Performance Rating tool. (NV4_Mini.sys)

When I did have it running, I got a 2.5 for graphics.
Then I updated some other Nvidia driver and BSOD time again.
NV4_mini.sys V56.73 is still slowing my start up according to the
wizard.
Search for updates usually makes things WORSE.

Current card is a Single GF2 MX400 PCI (used to have a second one, AGP
version that flaked out with handling)

Winamp really conflicts sometimes. If I try a task, sya like launch
Outlook, when Winamp is playing a Shoutcast TV stream, the comp will almost
freeze, Winamp will flash on and off for a minute or so. Had a solution
come back on Report problems that said MS and Winamp are working to solve
the problem but the responsibility is Winamp's.
