hi -
i have a GeForce4 MX440 8X AGP that after installing every possible
config and version of drivers (chipset and Vga) and finally removing
my old (GINA) soundcard, will only cease crashing the computer if
hardware acceleration is totally disabled.

hardly the ideal situation (as IF there ever is one:-)

I'm looking to replace it with an ATI Radeon.

no games...web development and video (Photoshop/Dreamweaver,
QuickTime/WMP)

I can only really afford a 9200SE (supports direct x 8.1)
what are the pros to getting a higher grade of 9200 (eg "PRO")?

Since i have Direct X 9 installed should I really be considering the
9600?
will the SE in that class be sufficent?

thanks so much to anyone who can take the time to render an opinion.

regards -
j

my config:
XP Pro SP1 + all RU and hotfixes
Athlon XP2600
Gigabyte GA-7VT600 1394
512MB PC2700
3 HD/1 DVD/CDRW
350W Powersupply

SE cards have either reduced memory bandwidth or slower clock speeds or
both. I dont think you'd notice the performance loss working with web
applications. If you're definite that you dont want to use the card for
games then you dont need a 9600 and need not worry about DX9 compliance.

Thanks Sleepy.
