Hi all,
I have an older pc in my bedroom. Use it mostly for browsing the
internet. It had a ATI 9600 Pro video card. I went to upgrade it with
newest drivers and immediately thereafter the graphics would become
corrupted to the point that you couldn't even see the display
properly. I tried to remove the driver (both by hand and by add/
remove). Using Microsoft's vga.sys driver it was fine. Using ATI's it
would be ok for a minute or two and then corrupt. Tried older versions
of the driver and no luck. I threw in a 9800 pro from another machine
and it worked fine.
So I picked up a Nvidia GeForce FX5200 for pretty cheap. I tossed it
into the machine and it works at every resolution except the one I
want. (1680x1050) When I set it to 1680x1050 (this is the native
resolution of the monitor) the monitor shows the resolution as
1280x1024. The computer and the NVidia control panel thinks that it is
1680x1050 but in reality it is not. Temporarily I set it to 1440x900.
I really am not sure where to look for this. Wasn't really sure how to
easily describe the problem so that I can perform a search.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
Thanks.
