I am doing several things that people have responded on
this message board helping me try to figure out why my XP
crashes so many times. While looking at my hardware
configurations I found that my modem and my video card
share the same IRQ. Will that caused XP to crash some
times? Thanks for your help
John

IRQ sharing is quite normal and common under XP. As long as the devices are
"well behaved", it should be fine. I'd only be concerned if the devices
were particularly old, for example, and old AGP or PCI G100/G200 Matrox
video card, or some old, PCI WinModem from 5-6 years ago, something like
that, when IRQ sharing was NOT common/supported (thus never really vetted
under XP by the vendor).

Thanks Jim for the information. I am trying everything to
understand why my XP is crashing so much.

Vern, My Xp has crashing 11-13 times a month. Stop codes
like:
0x000004E, 0x0000050 alot of those.
Several times it would crashed while using the internet
and get error messgaes like: "Faulting application
iexplore.exe version 6.0.2800.1106", "NTFS.sys
page_fault_in_non-page_area","PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" Just a
ton of them. I think I'm going to replace the RAM. That's
the jist of what many people have said in this forum.
