I just purchased a sony handycam (203). I don't want to use the picture
package software that it came with. I'd rather use windows movie maker. The
problem I am having is that when I hook up my USB from the handycam to my
Sony Vaio, and I click on "capture my video device," I get an error: video
capture device was not detected. Please help. I want to get started editing
some short recordings for my daughter's b-day. Thank you. Any help will be
greatly appreciated

Isn't that a DVD camera? Why use USB or
even FireWire...when you can simply place
the DVD in your DVD drive?

Maybe the following article will help:

yes it is a dvd drive, but when you go to look at the 15 20 or 25 (or
whatever the number may be) little clips that you have, it doesn't come out.
You can't import it like that. I got my answer though so thanks. I found out
that my handycam records in mpeg2 format. All I had to do was import the
pictures from my hard drive after downloading them from my handycam USING the
original software that they gave me with the handycam. I use the software to
download only. I use windows moviemaker to edit and do all the good stuff. It
is more user friendly. Thanks.

I've got the same problem, however when I try to import from the hard drive I
get the following message

C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\My Pictures\Picture
Package\'06_06_23_00\06062301.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too
many methods to fire events from

Any ideas?
