Windows XP- Latest SP's
Camera- Mini JVC DV
Windows recognizes camera
Connecting via Firewire
Q: After Starting and Stopping Capture, I get a message that the video was
not captures correctly, and to check the configuration. Any suggestions?

Thanks Graham,

I went through both tutorials and still no luck. I also get the same result
using the capture software that came with the camera.
I turn on the camera- both MM and ImageMaker recognize it. The controls
work fine, but it doesn't actually capture.
I'm not sure what "configuration"- since it detects automatically.

Yes, the capture works fine on my laptop. When I turn on the camera, XP
recognizes it, asks if I want to use MM then loads. The controls work just
the same as my Desktop, but when I press Start Capture, the Video captured
counter actually counts, unlike my Desktop.

I thought it was the Firewire on my desktop, but since it recognizes the
camera and the controls work, I've eliminated that. I guess I'm consigned to
using the laptop, burning the cd and copying to my desktop.

The Desktop is a Sony Vaio.

I'm afraid this bit is not true,

I thought it was the Firewire on my desktop, but since it recognizes the
camera and the controls work, I've eliminated that.

You need to test with another camcorder adn show that it does work. You can
do all of this with a faulty card, there are many parts to go wrong, and
this often causes much confusion, but I have had many people with a similar
problem and upon replacing the card all the troubles go away.

So, I suggest getting another cam in, one that you can see is working and
test it on your pc, if this doesn't work I'd swap the firewire card.
