Video Capture Problem

I am capturing a home video from a sony analog camcorder connected via
S-video to the video-in of an ATI X800 Pro VIVO graphics card. The problem
is that I get contrast changes in the captured video or even when just
previewing the footage in moviemaker. What I mean by contrast changes is that
the picture has a very bright contrast(shing whites) and than it is ok for
awhile then goes bright again. It repeats this at regular intervals. Any help
or explanation would be appreciated.

Unfortunately this is the result of poor analogue capture. Try ensuring all
apps not required are turned off, as analogue capture is very pc intensive.
Turn off internet/firewall/anti-virus etc.
Defrag the hdd and ensure as much space as possible is available, full hard
drives work slower.

If non of this helps, then you need to look at changing your capture method,
maybe buying an external analogue to digital convertor, pinnacle do some
cheap ones, canopus excellent ones.
