Video Capture Problem

I have a JVC Cybercam and am attempting to capture from it to my gateway
laptop through the 1394 plug in. Everything works fine...the camera operates
as it should through the software. However; the capturing movie has pixel
specks throughout the picture and a hissing sound in the audio portion. The
firewire is also new...it appears to me that I may have a setting that isn't
quite right. Can anyone shed some light on me??

Does the movie play back fine if you plug the cam into the tv?
Have you tried to capture a second time?
Do you get exactly the same results?
Or are the pixelated pieces in a different place?
What settings did you use?
Turning everything off that isn't needed helps the pc as video capture is
intensive work. see this page for more help on that one

It's odd that capture a second time results in the pixelation in identical
places, as this is often due to pixelation on the tape itself. When the pc
initiate the pixelation it is generally in different places each time you
capture.

What I emant by what settings did you use, I meant did you capture as a
dv-avi file or a wmv file and which sort.

I also wouldn't rule out faulty hardware, cables are pretty poor these days
with the lower prices available
