Video Capture is pixelated

I'm using a Sony mini-DV Handycam and Windows Movie Maker. I've been able to
capture some footage on my computer, going USB to USB, that turned out fine,
but now I'm seeing in the preview screen that what I'm capturing is extremely
pixelated. The playback on the Handycam looks great, though. I'm a relative
newbie to videomaking and don't know what is causing this problem.

Here we go again........
It's a Sony - they helped define the IEEE 1394 bus standard for DV
camcorders
and with Sony it's called Firewire - use that bus connection, Not USB.
This is an XP forum, unless you updated to XP on an old PC, then it is
most assured that the XP PC you purchased is Firewire equipped.
Use Firewire to connect your DV cam to PC.
