Hi,

Does anyone know of a utility to take a video capture in avi format
and output to jpg's in realtime.

Plugin for VirtualDub perhaps?

That is a completely non-understandable question! Pelase explain what is it
you are looking for in more detail. And why are you looking for such an
unusual thing.

Rehan I assume he wants 25/30 jpegs per second of avi....

A very good pc would be the first, but I don't know of any apps that can do
that in real time.. perhaps something for you to write??

Oh i see ... that is somewhat understandable ... but why "realtime"? it
seems he wants to do more than just extract frames...

If the original poster wants just to extract frames, then VirtualDub can
already do that. In Vdub, open your movie and select File Save as a
sequence. The three choices of file types are: bmp, tga and png.

I have a video camera, connected to a video grabber, connected via usb,
to my computer. I can capture the video and write an avi to disk.

What I want to do, is capture it as a set of jpg's.

I'm looking for a solution like "pipe the avi output through VirtualDub" or
this
application will do it.

I know I can convert it with VirtualDub, but I need to capture the stream
and convert it realtime.

Thanks

Oh, and I only need 12 frames per second, if that helps...

I suspect you wont be able to find such a tool as JPEG is not a movie
format. Most video capture software would use a movie format such as
MJPEG/DIVX/etc

If you explain what is the original task you need to accomplish which raised
this unusual requirement, somebody may eb able to help you with some
alternative solutoins!
