Video Capture direct from VCR to DVD

I am trying to capture a movie directly on a Moser Baer 4.7 GB/2.4x DVD
RW medium. The plan is to edit and remove the commercials from the
recorded program later on.
Following is the system configuration:

1) Pentium IV Processor, Intel Motherboard, 1 GB RAM, Windows XP
2) ATI Radeon 8500 DV video capture card. Display and Capture Drivers
and MMC 7.5 with DVD Player installed from the original installation CD

3) Samsung Combo drive and Sony DRU 540A DVD Writer
4) VCR connected to the ATI Radeon card on the PC; PAL B broadcasting
system

4) NeroVision Express and Sonic MY DVD for direct to DVD video capture
and subsequent editing

ATI's MMC 7.5 displays the channels playing on TV and also the video
recorded on VCR Tape as Composite Video

Both Sonic My DVD and NeroVision Express recognize the ATI Rage Theatre
Video Capture Driver as the Device being used but no video appears in
the respective boxes, even though Composite Video is selected as the
source. I have checked that the PAL B system is selected in NeroVision.
Sonic MyDVD has options only for NTSC or PAL M. I do not know how to
get PAL B there.

Without getting the Video in the Box, I cannot start the capture
process. Could anyone using NeroVision Express or Sonic MyDVD tell me
where I could be going wrong? Or are there any detailed instructions on
what steps will bring me success?

I have copied from a VHS tape to the HD using ULead Movie factory,edited the
resulting movie and then burned to a DVD-RW using Nero.
I have also copied digital Tape by way of XP Movie maker,edited and then
burned with Nero to DVD
This was suggested to me by someone who helped me....I really dont know if
direct burning is possible but I do know that your way would take twice as
long.....burn to DVD........then burn to HD to edit(cant edit on
DVD).....then burn back to DVD.

Sorry. It is possible to record directly on a DVD RW, edit the unwanted
portions out and re-record on the same DVD-RW. In fact, I have done it.
But
in the process of installing (and removing when it did not work)
various
software packages or updated drivers, I have lost the functionality of
getting the composite video in the NeroVision Express Capture Direct to
DVD
Box. You may be getting a far better quality by doing the same job
step-by-step but the Direct to DVD-RW saves a lot of time and reduces
the
tedious jobs to only one: editing out the unwanted commercials.
