I'm using a HP Media Center m1160n (AMD processor) with Windows XP
Media Center. There are input RCA Plugs and S-Video on the front of
the computer (along with about every other format known to man). In
Windows Movie Maker2, when I try and Capture Video I get a pop up box
that tells me "A video capture device was not detected. Verify a device
is turned on and connected properly, and then try again."

I have the VCR pluged into the RCA input ports. The VCR is playing but
I can't capture the video.

I bought the Computer to copy my VHS tapes to DVD and the sales guy
said I would be able to do that without purchasing a video capture card
(ok, that was 9 onths ago when I bought the computer).

Any ideas? Does something need to be turned on to get Windows XP MC to
recognize the RCA input plugs?

Thanks,

OK, I chatted with HP. It turns out the RCA plugs on the front are not
supported out of the box. Only if I purchase software that
specifically supports the RCA input Plugs. The S-Video is supported by
the muvee software so I have to go in with S-Video. My VCR has both
DVD and VHS but only the DVD goes to the S-Video out and I want to copy
my older VHS tapes.

Ahhh well......

I use my camera as a converter for my VHS tapes that go from my VCR to the
camera(Sony Digital 8) then into a firewire card. I then convert to avi edit
then burn as DVD-R.
