Hi
I want to make a movie (like 5-10 minutes) for a family activity. I do
not know what to buy?? should I buy a video camera, or digital camera
or web camera?? I do not mind to see the movie on the computer only or
in video as well.. it does not really matter.. I want something not
expensive in the range ($200- $400) Canadian. Any advice please about
the model/maker etc thanks a lot.

for that price you can get a 3.2 or better digital camera. I have a
fugifilm s5000. it records video with sound and of course is a very
nice still camera. 22x zoom for stills is one of the major pluses for
me. a larger XD memory card will be needed (256) if your going to do
video, is my suggestion, no matter what camera you choose)except where
that doesn't apply(web cam).

A new webcam or basic digital camera would fall in that price range. You can
create a VideoCD. You don't need to spend a lot of money unless you want to
create a DVD. A used digital video camera may not have very recent features
but is also an option.

If you choose a webcam and you have a desktop, find a unit that can be
detached and carried around. If you have a laptop, any webcam will do as
both can be carried around to collect video footage.

Other things to consider are the maximum video clip length, frame rate and
resolution settings the units are capable of. The higher these are, the
better.
