I have a problem with Powerpoint 2002 giving me a black screen and being
unable to play a video as part of a slide show that was working before
installing a DVD player. I have tried players from Cyberlink, Power DVD 4
and Intervideo as well. I have a new Gateway laptop with Windows XP Pro,
fresh install.

The presentation works fine until players installed, Please help!

It sounds like the installation of the players may have allowed them to
alter your MCI settings. This is not an uncommon problem caused by software
installers that "hijack" your system. See the tutorial at
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm and read
through section #3 to the bottom. Compare your MCI settings to those listed
and let us know if you find any differences.

Also...what type of video file is it?
