Hi there,
I once had the same problem and had to take advice. For me the problem
was because I had captured video of my own making and some from elsewhere.
The elsewhere video had its frames displayed in the wrong order (For TV etc
there are two frames often called odd and even) It seems that because these
frames were in the wrong order the codec fails to function properly and the
result is exactly as you describe.
My solution was to save the various elements separately and then
re-import them and then from there make the final video. Obviously doing it
this way you first check each of the newly created elements first before
committing them to the final cut.
Hope that helps a little.
Best Wishes.....John Kelly

Thanks for the quick response John. Yes there is a preview mode and the
problem was not apparent when I previewed the movie prior to burning it. One
thing I noticed though is that the titles I've placed at the beginning of my
movie seemed to play back on the DVD more rapidly than the time I allowed
for them on the Movie Maker time line. In addition, I've added a sound track
to coincide with these titles. It now seems that the sound track continues
to play after the titles are shown, and the audio portion then begins at the
end of the sound track. It appears the audio portion is correct but the
video has seemed to have sped up at the beginning.
