Video and optical recognition devices

when I use a small hand held scanner connected to my lap
top or I do video editing I keep getting 'run time error'
coming up which closes the programme down. Its XP. Any
help?

what about the drivers cpu ram and gra card are good

enough for xp "at least 1500 mhz 512 mb 64 mb and
suitable driver for scanner recomm
