I am having the same problem but it comes up when I move
to the desktop and it wants to install this new program
and wants me to put the disc in so it can, but I dont
have a disc for this. So is there a place to get it or do
I have to remove it. Do I need this on my pc .. I have XP
home

You posted this message as a new thread, so when you say you are having the
"same problem" we don't really know what problem you are referring to?

Just a guess, but it looks like it may be a hardware device that is trying
to install drivers. Have you added any hardware to the system lately? If so,
are all of the attached hardware devices working properly? Have you looked
in the Device Manager for any problem devices?

What is the exact, word for word message you are seeing that is associated
with "VID_04E6PID_80002000" ?

cured VID

I just cured the VID problem after upgrading to XP. In device manager my scanner was listed as an unknown device. Funny as I used it after installing the original drivers (I formatted hard drive to clean up and reinstalled win 98 then XP). I downloaded a small update and ran it then check and XP was regestering my Scanjet 3200C correctly. Restarted XP and the error was gone. It was coming up each time I started and I was just blowing it off and going on till I got sick of seeing it. That's what worked for me.
Check for unknown devices in device manger. :-)
